I’ve been writing for years, starting with a “how-to” column for The Music Paper. That opportunity opened the door to contributions in Bassics, Bass Frontiers, Bass Musician Magazine, DownBeat, JazzTimes, Jazz Improvisation, and others. I've also authored several books focused on the technical and creative aspects of playing. Writing has become an essential part of my musical process. It pushes me to think clearly and deeply, which helps me better understand—and articulate—what makes me the player I am.
